“Gut health is the key to overall health.” -Kris Carr

healthy gut

Most people don’t realize that health starts in your gut. Think about it: everything we put into our bodies has to pass through our guts. Our gut is how we digest the food we eat, which is a vital source of life for us.

As incredible as our system of digestion is, and how truly miraculous it is, it is not made of steel. Yet, based on how we bombard it with toxic and processed foods you would think that we believe it is indestructible.

Our digestive system is always telling us if we are treating it well and if it is healthy or not. Things like heartburn, acid reflux, diarrhea, constipation, gas and bloating, are all direct signs that our gut is not functioning well.

Yet, we go along with these symptoms as if they are just a normal part of our digestive systems. Well, they are not. They are signs that our body is giving us to tell us that something is wrong and we need to listen. We have come to see them as normal because they are so commonplace with today’s unhealthy lifestyles.

The signs we get from our gut are early warning signs, and if we ignore them and choose not to deal with and heal them at the source then we are opening ourselves up to potentially serious diseases down the road.

My gut started to speak to me at a very young age, and not knowing any better the signs were ignored. The symptoms got worse as did my overall health. I consider the breakdown of my digestive system as a gift of sorts. It forced me to heal and rebuild it, and through that effort learn what healthy eating really is all about. My signs became unbearable, and I feel very fortunate that I was forced to listen and prevent what in all probability could have been a very critical illness.

Your gut is always speaking to you. Listen and pay attention. Do whatever it takes to heal it! Your overall health and happiness depends on it.

Be good to your gut and see how much better you can feel.
