“The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about.” ~ Wayne Dyer
“Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.” ~ Albert Einstein
“You teach best what you most need to learn.” ~ Richard Bach
“He who learns but does not think, is lost! He who thinks but does not learn is in great danger.” ~ Confucius
“Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn.” ~ Benjamin Franklin
Every day of our lives we are presented with opportunities to learn. We can learn from our mistakes, from the mistakes of others, from our past, from the past of others, from our feelings and behaviors, and from the feeling and behavior of others.
Each and every day we are also provided with opportunities to teach compassion, kindness, love, forgiveness, joy, understanding, and hope.
Thus each day, with our opportunities for learning and teaching, we are presented with the opportunity for personal growth. I truly believe a day cannot go by without a few or many of these opportunities to grasp and seize.
The unfortunate part is for many people they live their days letting all of these nuggets of human experience slip on by, not recognizing them for the potential they have. Instead they are concealed by anger, judgment, blame, shame, hurt, envy and fear.
Our body stops growing but our mind, heart and spirit never should, this is what makes us human.
Pay attention to the events in your daily life, right down to something as simple as an exchange between yourself and the cashier at the grocery store. How was your interaction? Did you smile and say “Hi”? If not, why not? Was she friendly? If not, did you take offense? Were you present or stewing and worrying about something not even related to your present exchange? Did you take your rumbling of feelings out on her in any way?
Going through life without learning, teaching and growing is like being on automatic pilot, not experiencing your full potential as a human. Take your life off automatic pilot; learn, teach and grow so you can fully experience what it is to be human.
