“Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constrictively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate, and to humble.” ~Yehude Beng
“The energy of the mind is the essence of life.” ~Aristotle
“It’s so important to realize that every time you get upset, it drains your emotional energy. Losing your cool makes you tired. Getting angry a lot messes with your health.” ~Joyce Meyer
“Sometimes you don’t know what you got till it’s gone.” We can and do say this about a great many things, but his week I want to focus on one thing–and that is energy and the things that drain it.
I’ve had a crazy week of high and low energy, and it’s really made me think about where our energy drains come from. Of course there are the obvious ones such as a lack of sleep, working too long and hard, or overextending ourselves.
But here are some of the not-so-obvious one’s that can catch us off guard.
Toxic Thoughts
Believe it or not negative thoughts can drain your energy. They have a physiological effect on the body and subsequently can bring your energy way down. Sure it’s hard not to have negative thoughts–we are human after all. However, if those negative thoughts become your norm they are sure to have an equally negative impact on your energy.
Toxic Words
Let’s take this one step further and turn those negative thoughts into negative words spoken out loud. Remember when your mother used to say, “If you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all”? Maybe she was onto something and we’re only now starting to realize how much sense it makes.
Toxic People
People who have consistently negative thoughts and put those negative thoughts into negative words could safely be considered negative people. I find that these people can drain our energy–and quickly!
Toxic Environment
While you become like the five people you hang out with the most, you are also greatly impacted by the environment in which you spend most of your time.
If you find that you are low on energy, then ask yourself if you are surrounded by negative people speaking negative words most of the time?
Toxic Food
We are not just what we think; we are also what we eat. Basically, if you put garbage into your body then you will get garbage out of your body and this includes the amount of energy you have.
Toxic Colon
Our waste removal system serves an incredibly important function; it is the master keeper of our overall health and well-being.
Our bodily waste needs to come out regularly and well. If not, you will find your body extending a great deal of its energy trying to protect itself from accumulating toxins that are getting reabsorbed instead of eliminated.
What is your energy drain?
Pay attention to what drains you, and if you are drained, try to find out what the culprit may be. Energy is precious so don’t take it for granted. “Sometimes you (really) don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone”.
