“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” ~Maria Robinson
“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt
“Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful; a meaningful friend–or a meaningful day.” ~Dalai Lama
“Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone. The future is not guaranteed.” ~Wayne Dyer
“We are reborn into the world every time we wake. There is a daily chance to start and live a new life.” ~Unknown
We are all going to die one day. That is a reality none of us can hide or escape from. The question is how are you living?
Do you live each day as if it is just another day, thinking time is unlimited and it is okay for this day to be wasted?
Unfortunately, I feel many of us live this way, day in and day out, not seeing how precious each day really is. We take this gift of a day for granted.
I am both blessed and privileged to be associated by way of marriage to a Funeral Home. One of the subtle yet very real responsibilities that come from this situation is witnessing death on a regular basis.
How does this translate into my responsibility? Well, each time I witness the loss of life I am reminded of the gift of life. And with that reminder comes the responsibility to look at my own life and mortality and not to take it for granted, but to live in a state of appreciation and gratitude.
This state is not always easy, especially when things are not going well in your life. There are many things we can find reason to be upset about or to complain about. There is no shortage of things to fear or worry about, especially in today’s economic, social and environmental conditions. Life is full of challenges, obstacles, and tragedies for sure.
Yet, life is also full of pleasure, beauty, joy, laughter, fun, and an abundance of things to be happy and grateful about.
No matter what is going on in your life—whether you view it as good or bad—you still have the choice to see it as living. Life happens, that is our reality. Instead of letting life get to you and diminish your appreciation of each new day, you are blessed to wake, accept your reality, and choose to enjoy your life anyway.
Change what you can, accept what you can’t, and find the good in your life.
Each morning we wake to a new day is another day to be lived. How do you want to live yours?
