Your Body is Talking. Is Anybody Listening?

“A wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessing, and learn how to by his own thought to derive benefit from his illnesses.” ~ Hippocrates

“A healthy outside starts from the inside.” ~ Robert Urich

“Without health life is not life; it is only a state of languor and suffering – an image of death.” ~ Buddha

“Modern medicine, for all its advances, knows less than 10 percent of what your body knows instinctively.” ~ Deepak Chopra

“Begin to see yourself as a soul with a body rather than a body with a soul.” ~ Wayne Dyer

Listen to your body
I have a really hard time understanding, given my own personal experience, that one day someone is in perfect health and then the next day they are chronically ill, or worse, dead. Health is not the absence of disease and everyday our body is giving us messages letting us know we are not in balance or in perfect health.

Unfortunately, most people ignore the subtle nudges and keep on doing what they are doing or eating, until one day the nudge turns into a push, or the push become a full blown shove, or at worst the shove becomes a shovel to the head with a life-threatening disease.

So what are some of the messages our body can give us to let us know that we need to sleep more, eat better, reduce our stress, love more, work less, play more, exercise, forgive, and ultimately heal our wounds?

Here are some, to name a few:

  • Being tired all the time
  • Frequent colds or flu’s
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Skin problems such as eczema or acne
  • Digestive issue (diarrhea, constipation, IBS, acid reflux, gas, bloating)
  • Blood sugar issues (Hypoglycemia, diabetes)
  • Weight issues
  • Allergies
  • Problems sleeping
  • Thyroid issues
  • Brain fog
  • Depression
  • PMS
  • Achy joints

While these in and of themselves may not be life threatening they are very clear messages from our bodies that we are not in balance.

For many people, instead of listening and making the changes they need to make, they go to the doctor for the proverbial “quick fix” usually in the form of a pill. While the pill may turn down the volume for a time the message is never turned off; we just can’t hear it as loudly. Unfortunately over time the shovel can rear its ugly head and hit hard, with a volume so loud we can’t ignore it.

Many of these messages have become so commonplace they are considered just a normal part of life and a matter of ill luck. When we take on this mentality we have released all sense of responsibility and with that, we have released all of our power to do anything about it, which is why the quick fix can be so attractive.

It is not hard to see with the current state of disease in our society today. Something is not right. We need to start taking personal responsibility by listening to the messages our body is sending us each and every day. We need to make the changes and do the things necessary to heal our bodies and our minds. The shovel does not have to happen. With the messages our body gives u,s we are given opportunities to prevent it and go on to live long and healthy lives.
